What drew you to this location?
I was drawn to this cemetery because my Mother-in-Law is here. I miss her. We come here often.
What was one notable thing from the day?
I was approached by a man wanting to know if I had permission to be there painting. I told him I had not requested permission from the church, thinking it was a public space. He wanted to know if I had permission to paint the headstone. I told him I had asked but got no answer. He left to call the church to see if it was ok for us to be there (I was not the only artist painting there).
Describe your approach to plein air in 2 sentences.
I try to find an interesting vantage point when I am out plein air painting. I also try to capture the color of the light, it is different at different times of the year and day.
Stacy is a native western New Yorker who studied art at the University of Maine. A landscape artist, she works mainly in pastel, for their immediacy and vibrancy. Stacy tries to capture the beauty and magic of nature, as it has the power to connect all living beings.
