Landscape: Subject and Stimuli

This exciting fall exhibition represented three distinct styles all delving into the landscape genre of image-making.

Featured artwork by:

Meredith Mallwitz
"I am inspired by the simple, inadvertent beauty of the relationship that exists between a large open field, the light of an expansive sky, and the changing mood of the day”.

Chad Grohman
"In these landscapes, I look at the transitions from day to night, warm to cold, and winter to spring. Looking at large scale divisions of time is relatable to the small scale ebb and flow of daily living. I paint the landscape in simple shapes to create an immediate relationship to the viewer. To simplify its complexity is to better identify with what is already a natural personal connection.”

Zerbe Sodervick
Zerbe Sodervick’s monoprints are interpretive landscapes that address environmental conditions and sustainability considerations. Creating one-of-a-kind imagery with inks and beeswax on paper, land and waterscapes are richly defined in multi-layers. Her prints reference specific locations where fragile earth resources are vulnerable to change and loss.

The opening reception on Saturday, September 7, 4–7 p.m. featured:
- Artist Talk at 4:30p.m.
- Wine Tasting by Apple Station Winery (Cayuga, NY)
- Live music by Susan Barnes (Acoustic folk)
