We give a warm welcome to Mikayla Guck who is now featured in the Emerging Artist Gallery now through July 15, 2026.  Mikayla is the 5th college/graduate level student to be featured in this newer space at Main Street Arts. She graduated in May of 2026 from Nazareth College (Rochester, NY).  With a major in studio art and minors in Psychology and Art Therapy, she is pursuing a Master of Science in Creative Arts Therapy.

Artist Statement: My artwork ebbs and flows between two major themes: amidst diagnosis and process of healing. Through the primary mediums of painting and printmaking, my work both documents and explores the complexity of being chronically ill; how my body has changed, and associated emotional and mental turmoil that come with diagnosis and treatment. Painting allows me to maintain a looseness and fluidity that helps transfer ideas through content and color choice. When my works do not touch on my health journey directly, they are often serving as a cathartic practice, as art creation is a healing process for me.  This mentality drives my career path as I pursue an MA in Creative Arts Therapy at Nazareth University beginning in August 2026.
