    View our exhibition calendar which highlights local and regional artists in solo shows and group invitationals, in addition to annual national juried exhibitions and check out an archive of our exhibition history since we opened in 2013.

    Our art resource library houses a collection of over 1,500 books and ranges from historical to contemporary and collectively illuminates the impact of the arts on culture, society, and the human experience.

    In addition to visual arts, Main Street Arts also focuses on literary arts and literacy through our bookstore, Sulfur Books. You’ll find new and used books for all ages—adults, young adults, middle readers, and children.

    Opportunities

    Main Street Arts offers opportunities for artists in invitational thematic or media-specific exhibitions throughout the year.

    Our open call for work, a general submission for us to consider your work, is also reviewed twice per year for consideration in upcoming exhibitions. Artists also have opportunities to teach workshops or take part in community events.

    In addition to artist opportunities, we also have various opportunities for volunteers to help cultivate a creative community through Main Street Arts!

    About Main Street Arts

    Main Street Arts is a nonprofit arts organization and art gallery specializing in showcasing contemporary art and fine craft from emerging and established Upstate New York artists.  Located in the historic, picturesque village of Clifton Springs, NY, the 3,600-square-foot space has two floors offering exhibitions,  workshops, youth programs, and an art resource library.

Small Works 2023

The tenth annual national juried exhibition of small works (12 inches or smaller in any direction*) is open to artists working in all media excluding video/sound and installation art. This exhibition is open to all U.S. residents (18 years or older). *Framing may extend to 16 inches.

$30: Submit 1–3 pieces, $35: Submit 4–6 pieces
Images submitted should be .jpegs between 1MB and 5MB

About the Juror(s):

Bradley Butler is the executive director and curator at Main Street Arts, a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts organization in Clifton Springs, NY. He has been director since the organization's opening in June of 2013. In addition to his role at Main Street Arts, Bradley is also a painter and has been making and exhibiting his work since 2006. His work has been featured in solo, group, and juried exhibitions regionally and nationally. Bradley received an A.A.S. at Monroe Community College in 2004, B.S. at Nazareth College in 2007, and M.F.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2010.

Closed between exhibitions

We are currently closed as we install a new exhibition Last Impressions, rare and rarely seen etchings by Robert Ernst Marx. Join us for the reception on Saturday, September 23 from 3 to 6 p.m.

You can also view our current online exhibition of paintings made during the third annual Plein Air in Clifton Springs event through 5 p.m. on Friday, September 22.

Closed 7/28 through 8/3:

We will be closed to the public Friday, July 28 through Thursday, August 4 as we install our next exhibition, Inspired By Nature. Please join us for the opening reception on Friday, August 4 from 5 to 8pm!
