James Mikhel emerson

Sculptor/painter  |  Brooklyn, NY

Artist in residence August 2016

"I believe that art is the essential way of knowing ourselves and our relationship with the world.

Using unconventional media and materials, I explore archetypes as a way
of addressing fundamental elements of life, interpersonal dynamics, and
the connections between money, politics, and enduring cultural practices.

I seek to renew the classical tradition with a contemporary language drawn from life in order to make art accessible, relevant and vital."
