Kathryn Beavers

Mixed media and installation artist |  Philadelphia, PA

Artist in residence December 2019

"I work simultaneously in all directions; using the growth patterns to send the painting climbing onto the ceiling and floor, and in a perpetual state of undulation, fluctuation, and metamorphosis.

These layers form walls, traps, and snares.

I think about concealment; walls and borders and then the ways to go about these obstacles, problem solving.  This then turns to safe places and violent precautions: Insights into what lives internally and what measurements are made to be able to protect these creatures.  Often set up in stages, stages in process and a stage for those living in the raw and most true alien form they are."
