“I use a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built methods to craft utilitarian pots for the table, using a variety of clay bodies depending on the intended firing atmosphere. I reference patterns and illustrations from historical Korean art in my brushwork to further enrich the surfaces with a nod to my heritage.”
Esther Mech received her BA in Studio Art with a minor in Art History from Wesleyan College, and her MFA in Ceramics at the University of Georgia in 2019. She continues to reside in Georgia. Her work primarily consists of utilitarian ceramics, fired in local atmospheric wood kilns.
