Liz Cohen

Liz Cohen of Denver, CO

Artist Statement:

“My work has no agenda other than simply being pleasing to see, touch and use. I’m drawn to retro and mid-century modern aesthetics. As a result, my pieces exhibit vibrant, glossy colors tightly contained in distinct shapes. These shapes interact with each other atop a raw, earthy background. Both tactile and visual contrast are important. By using these elements on three-dimensional, functional forms I hope to bring a sense of balance to both the user and myself.”

Liz Cohen is a ceramic artist based out of Denver, CO. She received a BA in Studio Art from Georgia State University and has been working with clay since 2010. Her work mainly consists of wheel-thrown, functional, ceramic ware, but she also enjoys creating ceramic wall pieces combined with site-specific murals when time allows. Liz currently works out of a warehouse space close to her home. Here she not only creates her more detailed work on the potter’s wheel, but also produces a wholesale line, intentionally designed to implement the slip casting process.
