Luanne Wilson

Luanne Wilson of Seattle, WA

Artist Statement:

“I like to combine the magic of nature and my own scientific curiosity with an internal, whimsical fantasy world to create vivid everyday pieces. To me, colors and contrast feel connected to the movement of life and transforming everyday objects into bold and playfully inspiring vessels helps me feel closer to the whimsey of the natural world we are all a part of.”

Luanne Wilson is an illustrator and ceramicist living and working in Seattle, Washington. She began her career in biology, getting a degree from the University of California Berkeley and working in environmental research and museum preservation taxidermy, before leaving the academic world to pursue her art. She has been a professional potter for the last 3 years and uses her history and knowledge as a scientist and illustrator to transform simple-shaped vessels into delicately painted stories of the natural world in our everyday lives.
