Claire Lenahan

Claire Lenahan (Gainesville, FL)

“I am interested in our body’s relationship to objects and space through the extension of and the failure to extend our bodies into space towards objects, causing disorientation. My work subtly disorients the viewer by queering western domestic conventional objects through failure, the performance of our daily actions, queer phenomenology, and social engagement.”
Claire Lenahan is a queer artist from North Carolina. Alongside making her art, Claire is the studio technician and throwing instructor at Studio T/M Pottery and Clay, as well as a gallery assistant at Charlie Cummings Gallery. She received her BFA in Studio Art from Appalachian State University in 2014 and MFA in Studio Art (Ceramics) at the University of Florida in 2021.
