Grade Level / Age:

Grades 7-10

About the Instructor:

Sherry has been creating since she was a very young child and both of her parents were inspirations that fed her interests. She was born and raised in New Jersey and began her art studies at School of Visual Arts while attending high school. Eventually life brought her to the Finger Lakes where she received her B.A. from William Smith College and her M.S. in Education from Nazareth College. She taught art in public school for 20 years and throughout her life’s adventures taught art privately. Sherry is a lifelong learner and really just “wants to make stuff”.

Art Lab is an art program for students in grades 7 through 10 exploring art
materials and techniques. Classes take place on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
Two 12-weeks sessions are offered during the academic year.

2023-2024 Classes
Session 1: Sept. 27 – Dec. 13, 2023
Session 2: Feb. 7 – April 24, 2024
Cost: $300 per student for 12-week session, all materials included

A combination of student- and instructor-driven projects will allow participants to become more proficient in a broad range of art materials. Working in 2D and 3D, students will expand their artistic skillset and utilize our Art Resource Library to broaden their knowledge of art history, and to inspire them to explore different styles of art making. Our instructor, Sherry Blanco, will lead students through the development of ideas and skills as well as the exploration of various techniques.
